The Light Lab was specified by Into Lighting to fabricate and install a bespoke illuminated timber handrail system for The Dalmore Distillery, as part of the wider architectural scheme designed by ThreeSixty Architecture.
The installation featured over 16 metres of our bespoke Glowrail system in a European Oak finish, integrating high-output 2700K LED illumination within a precision-crafted rectangular timber profile. Designed as both a functional handrail and an architectural lighting feature, the system introduced a warm ambient glow that enhanced the atmosphere of the distillery interior.
The handrail incorporated multiple elevation changes, bespoke corner detailing, and custom end sections to follow the complex geometry of the staircase, while maintaining a clean and continuous appearance throughout. Mounted using custom wall brackets at approximately one metre centres, the installation balanced structural performance with a refined architectural finish.
The project also included DALI dimmable 48VDC power supplies, allowing the lighting to integrate seamlessly within the wider lighting control scheme and enabling flexible scene setting throughout the space.
Working closely with the wider project team, our specialist fabrication and installation teams delivered a fully coordinated solution that combined detailed timber craftsmanship with discreet architectural lighting integration, creating a feature element within The Dalmore Distillery interior.
