St James Quarter - Escalators

The Light Lab fabricated and installed bespoke escalator lighting at St James Quarter, working from the lighting design by LIGHTALLIANCE.

Glowline RGBW linear lighting was custom designed and integrated into the escalator structure to complement the scheme’s distinct colour zones of blue, red, green, and yellow. Select areas also incorporated SPI pixel control, enabling dynamic, interactive lighting effects that shift colour sequences as users step onto the escalator.

This creates a responsive lighting experience that enhances movement, vibrancy, and wayfinding throughout the space.

In addition, bespoke ribbon lighting was installed along the escalator sides on each level, integrated with acrylic panelling to provide subtle, continuous illumination. This reinforces visual continuity while supporting safe and comfortable transitions between floors.

The combined lighting elements work in harmony with the wider retail environment, delivering a cohesive and immersive experience across St James Quarter.
