Sheraton Hotel

Located in the heart of Mayfair, the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel is a landmark Art Deco hotel known for its grand interiors and carefully preserved architectural detailing. The project brief called for a lighting intervention that would enhance the ceiling architecture while maintaining the venue’s classic character.

Working to lighting design by EQ2, our team fabricated a bespoke illuminated ceiling and wall panel system to recreate the visual effect of a natural skylight within an enclosed interior zone. The solution delivers soft, evenly diffused, tuneable-white illumination that increases perceived daylight and spatial openness.

A large-format custom LED matrix ceiling panel forms the primary skylight feature, engineered to integrate within the existing metal framework and sit behind a custom architectural glass front. This approach preserved the original structural detailing while transforming the aperture into a luminous skylight-style feature with smooth, even diffusion. The system uses sealed, tuneable-white LEDs and DALI-dimmable 24V drivers for precise scene control and adjustable colour temperature. Complementary trimless illuminated wall panels extend the glow beyond the ceiling plane, reinforcing the skylight illusion and visual continuity.

Custom fixing and sealing methods were used throughout to achieve clean, recess-mounted finishes with minimal visible trim, ensuring the installation reads as an integrated architectural light feature rather than a conventional luminaire, adding to our case study of heritage projects across the UK.
