Copenhagen Metro

The Light Lab was specified by contractor Eliministeren to manufacture and supply bespoke Glowrail48 LED inserts for a series of external staircase handrails at the new Copenhagen Metro development.

Designed to integrate within stainless steel handrail systems fabricated by others, the project required a robust and highly coordinated solution suitable for a demanding exterior transport environment. The bespoke LED inserts incorporated standard output IP65-rated 3000K LED illumination, alongside DALI dimmable 48VDC drivers and 3-hour maintained emergency conversion integration, ensuring both performance and compliance across the installation.

The project was delivered using The Light Lab’s global manufacture and supply model, allowing the bespoke components to be precision-fabricated in the UK and supplied for installation by local contractors in Copenhagen. Through this process, our team provided detailed technical coordination, fabrication drawings, installation guidance, and remote project support to ensure seamless integration with the wider handrail package. As part of the delivery process, members of our production team also travelled to Copenhagen to oversee the installation onsite, working closely with local contractors to ensure the LED inserts were integrated accurately within the stainless steel handrail systems and installed to the required project standards.

Working alongside the wider project team, the Glowrail48 inserts were engineered specifically to suit the geometry and construction of the handrails, delivering a clean architectural finish with consistent illumination throughout the external stair installations.
