As the London Lumiere event draws to a close, we have collated our guide to the best architectural and design events in London 2018.

Architect@Work: 24 –25 January

The two-day event is aimed at architects, designers and specifiers. This year it will focus on the theme of light. The SCIN Gallery’s Light Fantastic is an exhibition that “explores how light reveals itself and affects our interaction with materials”. Visit for over 100 leading international architectural suppliers including Vescom and Oikos NOVA (both pictured) and the popup bookshop .

London Festival of Architecture: 1-30 June.

A month-long celebration of architectural experimentation. Identity is the central theme for 2018, the festival always brings out some really exciting design such as last year’s summer pavilion by emerging studio IF_DO (pictured).

100% Design: 19 – 22 September.

Up to 27,000 architects, designers, specifiers and members of the public attend. A highlight is always the programme of design talks. Speakers last year included Michael Young, Ross Lovegrove, Lee Broom (pictured) and Naomi Cleaver. 100% Design and Build is a firm favourite for The Light Lab – discovering cutting-edge materials, surface innovations, and new technology, 2017 exhibitors included Sky-Frame (pictured Pavillon on Rügen, Germany). Don’t miss the 100% Design Late Night – Thursday 20 September 2018 18.00 – 21.00 for an evening of music, drinks and networking.

darcroom 2018: 21-23 September.

Part of London Design Festival, darcroom pitches itself as ‘a completely different type of exhibition’. It is a curated, and very creative lighting exhibition in the heart of London for specifiers and designers. It features high-end lighting suppliers, creative lighting installations and a speaker programme involving lighting designers, light artists, product designers and architects.

Highlights from 2017 included lighting installation ‘Sunlight Graffiti’ by Studio Olafur Eliasson’s Little Sun and the darc thoughts lecture series featuring the likes of Croatian lighting designer, Dean Skira (both pictured).

LuxLive 2018: 14-15 November.

Based at ExCel London, we love the breadth of lighting inspiration at this show. Areas include an IoT arena, Design Clinic and Trade and Commercial zone. Packed with industry heavyweights, this is Europe’s largest lighting event, with over 8,000 people visiting across the two days.
